## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT DEPARTED ON RUNWAY 33 WHEN THE PILOT NOTICED THE FORWARD LEFT BAGGAGE DOOR OPEN. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT HE ABORTED TAKEOFF WITH APPROXIMATELY HALF THE DISTANCE OF THE RUNWAY REMAINING (2,375 FEET). THE AIRCRAFT SLID OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY AND CAME TO REST APPROXIMATELY 57 FEET OVER AN EMBANKMENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC04CA207](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC04CA207), Sep 8, 2004: Cessna 402C (N5774C), Charleston, WV, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper decision to abort the takeoff with insufficient runway remaining. A factor was the wet runway.

## Other reports on N5774C (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19841016060229I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19841016060229I), Oct 16, 1984: Cessna 402C (N5774C), Van Nuys, CA, Minor damage. Nose gear collapsed on landing touchdown. Cause not given. Aircraft was on a routine maintenance test flight.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
