## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT ATTEMPTED DOWNWIND TAKEOFF WITH A QUARTERING TAIL WIND, GUSTS TO 25 MPH. PIC REPORTED GLIDER IN TOW ABRUPTLY CLIMBED AND PULLED THE TOW PLANE'S TAIL UP TOO SOON. TOW PILOT REPORTED DIFFICULTY IN MAINTAINING DIRECTIONAL CONTROL AND DEPARTED THE RIGHT SIDE OF RUNWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA04LA187](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA04LA187), Sep 11, 2004: WSK PZL Warzawa-Okecie PZL-104 Wilga 80 (N10RN), The Dalles, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: Aircraft control was not maintained by the tow plane pilot and the glider pilot did not maintain a proper climb rate during the initial climb. A direct crosswind and wind gusts were factors.

## Other reports on N10RN (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 20040306002989I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/20040306002989I), Mar 6, 2004: Wsk PZL104 (N10RN), Hood River, OR, Minor damage. (-23) Hard landing that caused the shock absorber attach points to come loose.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
