## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2004, WHILE ON A PLEASURE FLIGHT FROM BRODHEAD (C57) AIRPORT, WI TO MERIDIAN, MS, WITH A PLANNED FUEL STOP AT TUSCOLA, IL, APPROPRIATELY RATED AND CURRENT PILOT IN COMMAND (PIC) EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE POWER FAILURE WHILE CRUISING AT ABOUT 2500 FEET MSL, ABOUT 2 HOURS AND 15 MINUTES INTO THE FIRST LEG OF THE FLIGHT. THE PIC LANDED ON A FARM LANE ABOUT 2 MILES SOUTH AND 1 MILE WEST OF SEYMOUR, IL, WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE PIC THEN OBTAINED 5 GALLONS OF AUTOMOTIVE FUEL FROM A FARMER IN THE AREA. THE PIC THEN CHECKED THE AREA AND ELECTED TO TAKEOFF FROM THE NARROW GRAVEL LINE. ON TAKEOFF THE AIRCRAFT DRIFTED LEFT CAUSING THE LEFT WHEEL TO RUN INTO A SHALLOW DITCH. AT THAT POINT THE LEFT WING CONTACTED THE CORN CROP, PULLING THE AIRCRAFT FURTHER LEFT INTO THE CORN. THE RIGHT GEAR LEG FAILED AT THE SHOCK STRUT AND THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST AT THE EDGE OF THE FIELD, SUFFERING MINOR DAMAGE TO THE COWL, LANDING GEAR, PROP, AND LEFT WING. BOTH THE PILOT AND PASSENGER EXITED THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INJURY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
