## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON SEPTEMBER 24, 2004 PILOT JEN HOYT WAS PERFORMING TAKE-OFF AND LANDINGS AT CANDLEWOOD LAKE. AFTER REFUELING AT DXR THE PILOT RETURNED TO CANDLEWOOD LAKE TO CONTINUE WATER TAKE-OFF AND LANDINGS. MR. HOYT SELECTED AN AREA CLEAR OF BOATS AND WAVES. THE APPROACH WAS THE SAME AS THE PREVIOUS ELEVEN LANDINGS THAT DAY. MR. HOYT ROUNDED OUT, WHAT HE THOUGHT WAS ONE FOOT ABOVE THE WATER WHEN IN FACT HE WAS JUST INCHES ABOVE THE WATER AND THE NOSE HIT THE WATER FIRST.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC04CA216](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC04CA216), Sep 24, 2004: Consolidated Aeronautics Lake LA-4-200 (N44LD), New Milford, CT, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper flair, which resulted in a nose over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
