## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT CRASHED DURING GO-AROUND @ 18:30 - FOR PRIVATE RUNWAY 27. THE SUN WAS LOW ON THE HORIZON - NO CLOUDS. THE SUN WAS IN THE PILOT'S EYES ON FINAL. DURING GO-AROUND THE LEFT WING CLIPPED A TREE LIMB APPROXIMATELY 10 FEET OFF THE GROUND. THIS DAMAGED THE LEFT WING, CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO ROTATE TO THE LEFT STRIKING THE RIGHT WING ON THE GROUND AND RIGHT MAIN GEAR STRUCK NEXT. BOTH WINGS AND GEAR DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI04CA288](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI04CA288), Sep 26, 2004: Aeronca 7BCM (N4179E), St. James, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance from trees during the go-around. Factors were the sun glare and the trees.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
