## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AS THE AIRCRAFT ACCELERATED FOR TAKEOFF THE PILOT APPLIED LIGHT BACKPRESSURE ON THE ELEVATOR CONTROLS. THE AIRCRAFT BECAME AIRBORNE ABRUPTLY AND THEN JUST AS ABRUPTLY FELL TO THE RUNWAY. CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY WAS HARD AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS CRABBED TO THE RIGHT. PILOT ESTIMATES THE WINDS AT APPROXIMATELY 100 DEGREES, 15 GUST 20 TO 25 KTS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC04CA119](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC04CA119), Sep 29, 2004: Piper PA-28-181 (N3002T), Haines, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate compensation for wind conditions during the takeoff roll, which resulted in a premature liftoff and subsequent uncontrolled descent and collision with the runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
