## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED FROM RUNWAY 24 AT N57, NEW GARDEN AIRPORT. ACCORDING TO WITNESSES, THE AIRCRAFT CLIMBED TO AN ALTITUDE OF 300 FEET, THE ENGINE LOST POWER, THE AIRCRAFT STALLED AND SPUN TO THE RIGHT. DURING THE INVESTIGATION WATER WAS FOUND IN THE FUEL GASCOLATOR, FUEL LINES, AND CARBURETOR. BECAUSE OF CRASH DAMAGE, FUEL CONTAMINATION COULD NOT BE VERIFIED FROM THE FUEL TANKS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC04FA220](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC04FA220), Sep 29, 2004: Piper PA-28-180 (N54397), Avondale, PA, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate preflight inspection that resulted in fuel contamination and a subsequent loss of engine power.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
