## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) INSPECTORS FROM THE HOUSTON FSDO TRAVELED TO THE WATERGATE MARINA ON CLEAR LAKE NEAR KEMA, TEXAS TO INVESTIGATE AN INCIDENT AND MET WITH THE OPERATOR OF THE ULTRALIGHT AIRCRAFT, RESORT ATTRACTIONS FROM WILLIS, TEXAS. THE PILOT WAS ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WHO HOLDS A BASIC FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATE FROM UNITED STATES ULTRALIGHT ASSOCIATION AND THE REQUIRED WAIVER FOR GIVING INSTRUCTION IN THIS TYPE OF AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT ON TAKEOFF THE AIRCRAFT TURNED TO THE RIGHT JUST AFTER HE HAD GOTTEN IT UP ON STEP. THE RIGHT WING CONTACTED THE WATER AND THE AIRCRAFT CAPSIZED. THERE WAS NO INJURY TO EITHER OCCUPANT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS TOWED TO SHORE. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT THE MAIN SPAR WAS DAMAGED AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS TAKEN BACK TO WILLIS, TEXAS, FOR REPAIRS. THE STUDENT STATED THAT HE WAS IN FACT RECEIVING TRAINING IN THE AIRCRAFT AND CONFIRMED THE PILOT'S STATEMENTS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
