## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 10/04/04 AT APPROXIMATELY 1235Z, N777DC WAS ENROUTE FROM OMAHA, NE (OMA) TO DAYTON, OH (CAK) AT AN ASSIGNED ALTITUDE OF 370 WHEN THE AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED A LEFT ENGINE FAILURE. THE PILOT NOTIFIED CHICAGO ARTCC AND DECLARED AN EMERGENCY. CHICAGO ARTCC INFORMED THE PILOT THAT THE NEAREST AIRPORT WAS SOUTH BEND, IN (SBN) AT 20 MILES. CHICAGO ARTCC COORDINATED THE EMERGENCY AND THE AIRCRAFT LANDED AT SBN AT 1253Z WITHOUT INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
