## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT RETURNED TO FXE FOR EMERGENCY LANDING ON RWY 13 AFTER NOSE LANDING GEAR WOULD NOT COME DOWN. AIRCRAFT LANDED WITH NOSE GEAR IN WHEEL WELL WITH MAIN GEAR DOWN. MINIMAL DAMAGE TO AIRCRAFT WITH PROPELLER BENT FROM STRIKING GROUND WHILE WINDMILLING AND NOSE GEAR DOORS SKINNED AND BENT FROM LANDING EVENT. FAA SUPERVISOR HAPPENED TO BE ON THE FIELD AT FXE AT TIME OF INCIDENT AND CHECKED DAMAGE TO AIRCRAFT AND WITNESSED BROKEN PIN FALL FROM NOSE GEAR WELL WHEN GEAR DOORS OPENED TO MOVE AIRCRAFT FROM RUNWAY. ON CHECKING THE MEDICAL CERTIFICATE OF PILOT, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE MEDICAL HAD EXPIRED FOR A COMMERCIAL PILOT USE (DATED 07-24-2003). FOLLOW UP INVESTIGATION ON 10-08-2004 REVEALED THAT THE NOSE GEAR WOULD NOT EXTEND DUE TO FAILURE OF CLEVIS PIN THAT MANUALLY CONNECTS TO THE NOSE GEAR UPLOCK MECHANISM.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
