## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT, MR. THEODORE ANDERSON STATED HE DEPARTED RUNWAY 29R AT THE JEFFCO AIRPORT (BJC) ABOUT 11:10 MDT FOR A LOCAL FLIGHT. HIS INTENTION WAS TO REMAIN THE TRAFFIC PATTERN FOR TOUCH AND GO LANDINGS. HE MADE HIS FIRST TOUCH AND GO ON RUNWAY 29L. THE WIND WAS 250 DEGREES AT 6 KTS. HE WAS ON FINAL FOR HIS SECOND TOUCH AND GO AT 80 MPH. HE CROSSED THE THRESHOLD A LITTLE FAST AND FLARED. HE THOUGHT THE AIRCRAFT WOULD HIT SO HE ADDED POWER AND FLARED AGAIN. THE AIRCRAFT HIT HARD BOUNCED AND DRIFTED SEVERELY LEFT. HE ADDED FULL THROTTLE. THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO SKIP ACROSS THE GRASS TWO OR THREE TIMES THEN WENT OVER A STEEP EMBANKMENT AND CRASHED. INSPECTION ON SCENE INDICATES NO SKID MARKS OR SCUFF MARKS UNTIL THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE GROUND AT THE BOTTOM OF THE 30 FOOT EMBANKMENT. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. THE PILOT AND SOLE OCCUPANT OF THE AIRCRAFT WAS UNINJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN05CA007](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN05CA007), Oct 8, 2004: Mooney M20E (N14DV), Broomfield, CO, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's improper flare and recovery from a bounced landing during a touch and go maneuver. Contributing factors were the excessive airspeed and descent rate during the approach.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
