THE INCIDENT HAPPENED AT 1410 LOCAL TIME, THE PILOT SUSTAINED NO INJURIES AND THE AIRCRAFT SUFFERED ONLY MINOR DAMAGE. THE AIRCRAFT FUEL TANK WAS CHECKED AT THE SCENE BY INSPECTOR TAITE AND THE OWNER OF THE AIRCRAFT ^PRIVACY DATA O^ WE BOTH CONFIRMED THAT THE AIRCRAFT HAD NO VISIBLE SIGN OF FUEL IN THE TANK. THE PILOT OF THE AIRCRAFT STATED THAT HE FILLED THE TANK AT OPA LOCKA AIRPORT WITH 22.72 GALLONS OF FUEL, WHICH IS GOOD FOR AT LEAST 2 1/2 HOURS OF FLIGHT TIME (BANNER TOWING). HE WAS ONLY 1 1/2 HOURS INTO THE FLIGHT WHEN THE FUEL WAS DEPLETED. THE FUEL GAUGE FOR THE PIPER PA25 IS LOCATED AT THE TANK FILL PORT, IT IS NOT VISIBLE INSIDE THE AIRCRAFT. From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
