## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) N6598C A BE-23-C24R MADE A GEAR UP FORCED LANDING AT THE HYANNIS PORT GULF CLUB DUE TO AN ENGINE FAILURE PRECEDED BY THE ODOR OF SMOKE BEING DETECTED IN THE COCKPIT BY THE PILOT MARK ALEXANDER ON OCTOBER 15, 2004 AT 1852Z. AN INSPECTION OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT BY THE FAA REVEALED THAT SEVERE FIRE DAMAGE HAD OCCURRED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AFT OF THE ENGINE ACCESSORY BAFFLE UP TO AND INCLUDING THE FIRE WALL. THE FUEL PRESSURE INDICATOR LINE FROM THE FUEL DISTRIBUTION SPIDER TO THE FUEL PRESSURE INDICATOR WAS DISCONNECTED, ALLOWING FUEL TO SPRAY FROM THE 45DEG ELBOW ATTACHED TO THE BAFFLE INTO THE ACCESSORY COMPARTMENT. NOTE THE HEAVY SOOT DEPOSITS ON THE FITTING AND THE COMPLETE ABSENCE OF DEPOSITS ON THE HOSE CONNECTOR INDICATING THAT WERE NOT CONNECTED. OTHER DAMAGE INCLUDES BUCKLED AND HEAT DISTORTED FIRE WALL.
