## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED GREAT FALLS, MT (GTF) AT 2130 IFR FOR LOGAN INT'L, BILLINGS, MT (BIL). THE PILOT WAS EXECUTING AN ILS APPROACH TO 10L AT LOGAN INT'L AIRPORT, BILLINGS, MT (BIL) WHEN HE STRUCK A BUILDING APPROXIMATELY 1.65 MILES OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY AND 607 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF RUNWAY 10L. THE PILOT EXECUTED A MISSED APPROACH AT BILLINGS AND RETURNED TO GREAT FALLS, MT. THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR COLLAPSED ON TOUCHDOWN AT GTF AFTER BEING SEVERELY DAMAGED FROM THE BUILDING STRIKE AT BIL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA05LA010](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA05LA010), Oct 18, 2004: Beech 99A (N955AA), Billings, MT, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to follow the instrument approach procedure, which resulted in a premature descent below the decision height and subsequent collision with a building.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
