## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT EASY RIDER N87EZ PILOTED BY ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS FINISHING AN ACT DURING WHICH THE WHEELS AND FALSE TAIL ARE REMOVED AND THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN IN FLIGHT. N87EZ, CONTROLLED BY WEIGHT SHIFT, WAS TURNING FROM DOWNWIND TO LEFT BASE AT APPROXIMATELY 150 FEET WHEN THE AIRCRAFT ENTERED A STALL SPIN. THE SPIN WAS NOT RECOVERED AND THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE GROUND IN THE GRASS ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE APPROACH END TO RUNWAY 23 IN A NEARLY LEVEL ATTITUDE. THE PILOT SUSTAINED NON-FATAL INJURIES, THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE ON BOARD. DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT COCKPIT AREA WAS SUBSTANTIAL, HOWEVER, THE WINGS APPEARED UNDAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL05LA005](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL05LA005), Oct 17, 2004: Moody Easy Riser (N87EZ), Augusta, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain airspeed which resulted in an inadvertent stall/spin, and subsequent collision with the ground.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
