## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT HAS STATED THAT HE WAS ON APPROACH TO RWY 26L AT THE SPIRIT OF ST. LOUIS AIRPORT, CHESTERFIELD, MO AND BROKE OUT AT ABOUT 800 FEET. AS HE CROSSED OVER THE APPROACH END OF THE RUNWAY, HIS APPROACH PLATES FELL TO THE FLOOR AND HE BELIEVES THAT AS HE REACHED DOWN TO PICK THEM UP, HE PUSHED THE NOSE OVER AND FLEW INTO THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED APPROXIMATELY THREE TIMES PRIOR TO LANDING. THE PILOT THEN TAXIED ALL THE WAY AROUND THE AIRPORT TO THE AIRCRAFT'S BASE OF OPERATIONS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI05CA010](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI05CA010), Oct 19, 2004: Beech B-55 (N558B), Chesterfield, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The diverted attention and the inadequate flare by the pilot during landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
