AFTER MANEUVERING FOR SEVERAL MINUTES IN THE GENERAL VICINITY, THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A TREE AND THEN A STEEP HILLSIDE WITH THE ENGINE PRODUCING POWER. NO WEATHER BRIEFING HAD BEEN REQUESTED NOR HAD A FLIGHT PLAN BEEN FILED WITH RIVERSIDE AFSS.
