## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON VISUAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 8L AT HNL, PILOT FAILED TO LOWER LANDING GEAR. PILOT CLAIMED HE LOWERED THE LANDING GEAR AND HAD THREE GREEN LIGHTS, DID NOT GET AN AURAL WARNING OF GEAR NOT DOWN WHEN HE LOWERED THE FLAPS TO LANDING SETTING. PILOT CLAIMS RIGHT GEAR COLLAPSED UPON LANDING, FOLLOWED BY LEFT AND NOSE GEAR COLLAPSE. PILOT SUBSEQUENTLY CHANGED HIS STORY THREE TIMES, CITING UNDOCUMENTED HISTORY OF GEAR PROBLEMS WITH THIS AIRCRAFT. EVIDENCE AT SITE SHOWS FLAPS WERE IN THE APPROACH POSITION, GEAR RETRACTED AND GEAR DOORS CLOSED. DOOR DAMAGE DOES NOT SUPPORT GEAR COLLAPSE. RUNWAY SCARS SHOW AIRCRAFT SETTLED ONTO RIGHT PROP. PILOT THEN OVERROTATED, DRAGGING VENTRAL FIN ON RUNWAY UNTIL GETTING AIRBORNE AGAIN. SEVERAL HUNDRED FEET FURTHER DOWN THE RUNWAY, AIRCRAFT SETTLED ONTO BOTH PROPS, WHICH WERE GROUND DOWN, AND ONTO THE BELLY AND EXPOSED PORTION OF THE RETRACTED GEAR. AIRCRAFT WAS LIFTED BY CRANE, GEAR MANUALLY LOWERED, AND TOWED TO THE HANGAR. SUBSEQUENT GEAR SYSTEM INSPECTION AND GEAR SWINGS DID NOT REVEAL ANY PROBLEM WITH THE LANDING GEAR SYSTEM.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
