## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON NOVEMBER 10, 2004, A ERCOUPE MODEL 415-C EXPERIENCED A ROUGH RUNNING ENGINE ACCOMPANIED BY LOUD NOISES, FOLLOWED BY A LOSS OF POWER. THE PILOT ELECTED TO LAND IN A FIELD 18 MILES NORTHWEST OF JULIAN, CA. THERE WAS MINOR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED AT YUMA, AZ AT 1045 PST AND WAS ENROUTE TO OCEANSIDE, CA WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. EXAMINATION OF THE ENGINE DISCLOSED A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF NUMBER FOUR CYLINDER. THIS INCIDENT IS NOT RELATED TO A NMAC OR PILOT DEVIATION.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
