## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT STATED HE LOST POWER ON LANDING RESULTING IN A HARD LANDING IN SOFT DIRT BREAKING THE LEFT SKID AND ROLLING THE AIRCRAFT ON ITS LEFT SIDE. EXAMINATION OF THE HELICOPTER AND ENGINE BY THE FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE, TWO HELICOPTER MECHANICS, AND TWO FAA SAFETY INSPECTORS DETERMINED THE ENGINE WAS DEVELOPING POWER ON IMPACT BUT CANNOT DETERMINE TO WHAT EXTENT. THE ENGINE WAS RUN IN THE AIRCRAFT WITH THE DRIVE BELT REMOVED AT IDLE WITH NO PROBLEMS. A COMPRESSION CHECK WILL BE PERFORMED IN THE FUTURE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL05CA028](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL05CA028), Nov 22, 2004: Enstrom F-28A (N9235), Smyrna, TN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power for undetermined reasons, and the pilot's improper flare during forced landing, which resulted in an inflight collision into an open field.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
