## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) INCIDENT ^PRIVACY DATA O^ WAS REPORTED BY AIR TRAFFIC BECAUSE OF A LOSS OF SEPARATION BETWEEN ASH2618 AND AAL366. THE REQUIRED SEPARATION WAS LOST WHEN THE FLIGHT CREW OF ASH2618 RESPONDED TO A GPWS WARNING OF "GEAR HORN, TERRAIN TERRAIN, SINK RATE, AND PULL UP", DURING A DESCENT THROUGH 11,600 FT. FOR AVP, THEIR DESTINATION. ASH2618 WAS IMC IN ICING CONDITIONS WHEN THE GPWS WARNINGS OCCURRED, AFTER DETERMINING THEY WERE RECEIVING FAULTY WARNINGS THEY CONTINUED AND LANDED SAFELY AT AVP. ACCORDING TO THE CAPTAIN OF ASH2618, MAINTENANCE IN AVP DETERMINED ICE HAD PROBABLY CAUSED THE GPWS PROBLEM. ON THE SUBSEQUENT FLIGHT TO PHILADELPHIA THE PROBLEM REOCCURRED, AND MAINTENANCE IN PHL DISCOVERED A CRACKED #1 PACK SUPPLY BLEED AIR DUCT WHICH THEY BELIEVED AFFECTED THE RADAR ALTIMETER SYSTEM BECAUSE OF HEAT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
