## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) BLOCK 17, AERO PRODUCT A6411 FN-606/606A. ON A MAINTENENCE FLIGHT TO CHECK OUT THE PROPELLER ON THE LEFT ENGINE, THE LEFT ENGINE WAS SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED. ON RESTART, THE LEFT PROP WOULD NOT STABILIZER, SO IT WAS SHUT DOWN AGAIN. AN ILS APPROACH WAS MADE TO RUNWAY 13 AT MCALLEN, TX. AT APPROXIMATELY 700 FT., THE RIGHT ALTERNATOR TRIPPED OFF THE LINE LOSING HYDRAULIC PRESSURE. THEY TRIED TO REGAIN PRESSURE WITH THE DC HYDRAULIC PUMP WHICH DID NOT PRODUCE ANY PRESSURE. THE PLANE WENT OFF THE RUNWAY THROUGH THE AIRPORT FENCE AND A DITCH. THIS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED THE PLANE. THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED AND THE FUSELAGE WAS BUCKLED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DFW05LA029](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DFW05LA029), Dec 4, 2004: Convair 580 (N161FL), McAllen, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The failure to activate the hydraulic pump which resulted in the pilot's inability to maintain directional control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
