## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE STUDENT PILOT WAS ON HIS FIRST LEG OF HIS SECOND SOLO CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT. AS HE WAS ABOUT TO TOUCH DOWN ON RW 36 THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR CONTACTED THE RUNWAY WITH A SIDE LOAD, THE GEAR CASTING FAILED. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE WAS HEADING OFF THE RIGHT HAND EDGE OF THE RUNWAY, AND ELECTED TO TAKE OFF, AND NOT RISK HITTING A RUNWAY SIGN. AFTER TAKEOFF THE PILOT CIRCLED THE AREA AND SPOKE WITH ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ A CFI ON THE LOCAL CTAF. ^PRIVACY DAT^ HAD THE PILOT MAKE TWO PRACTICE APPROACHES TO RW 27, AND THEN MADE AN UNEVENTFUL LANDING ON THE THIRD APPROACH. THE ASOS LOCATED AT THE IJD AIRPORT AT 11:53 LOCAL WERE 260 AT 10, GUST TO 18 KNOTS. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AT 12:00 EST.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
