## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 12/10/04 AT APPX 1834Z NWA FLIGHT 587, N582NW ON THE INITIAL CLIMB OUT OF ORLANDO (MCO) IN A TURN FROM 184 HEADING TO 260 HEADING HIT A LARGE BLACK BIRD ON THE LEFT WING LEADING EDGE OUTBOARD SLAT. THE CAPTAIN DECLARED AN EMERGENCY (CONDITION YELLOW) TO JACKSONVILLE CENTER AND WAS DIVERTED TO TPA. AND LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENTS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
