(-23) AIRCRAFT WAS INVOLVED IN A DEMONSTRATION FLIGHT TO A PERSPECTIVE BUYER WHEN THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED. AIRCRAFT WAS AT APPROXIMATELY 5,000 FEET, IN A 30 DEGREE LEFT BANK AT 75 KIAS WHEN THE LEFT CANOPY DEPARTED THE AIRPLANE. DURING IT'S DEPARTURE FROM THE AIRPLANE, THE CANOPY STRUCK THE LEFT SHOULDER AREA OF THE PASSENGER, RIPPED A NYLON RETAINING STRAP FROM THE COMPOSITE FIBER COCKPIT FRAME WORK, AND THEN CAUSED MINOR SCRATCHES ALONG THE LEFT SIDE OF THE FUSELAGE IN THE VICINITY OF THE PAINTED AIRCRAFT NUMBERS. NO FURTHER DAMAGE WAS FOUND TO ANY FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACE. THE CANOPY LOCK/LATCH MECHANISM WAS STILL IN THE LATCHED DOWN POSITION AND WITHIN THE DOOR FRAME WORK.
