## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT DEPARTED ON RUNWAY 1 AT CHARLES B. WHEELER, KANSAS CITY DOWNTOWN AIRPORT, KANSAS CITY, MO (KMKC). THE PILOT RETRACTED THE LANDING GEAR AFTER LIFT-OFF AT APPROXIMATELY 50 FEET ABOVE THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT DOOR CAME OPEN AND THE PASSENGER SIDE SHOULDER HARNESS FELL OUTSIDE THE AIRCRAFT AND BLEW AGAINST THE SIDE OF THE FUSELAGE. THE PILOT DETERMINED THAT HE HAD ENOUGH RUNWAY REMAINING AND ELECTED TO REDUCE THE POWER AND LAND STRAIGHT AHEAD. THE PILOT HAD FAILED TO LOWER THE LANDING GEAR PRIOR TO LANDING. WITH THIS REPORT, INCIDENT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED IS CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
