## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT DEPARTED SHELTON AIRPORT, SHELTON, WASHINGTON AND WAS CLEARED TO LAND FROM NORTH VASHON ISLAND. WHILE ENTERING A RIGHT DOWNWIND FOR RUNWAY 13R, THE TOWER ASKED HIM TO MAKE A RIGHT BASE FOR RUNWAY 13R. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE WAS DISTRACTED AND THAT HE NORMALLY PLACES THE GEAR DOWN WHEN HE ENTERS THE DOWNWIND. HE STATED THAT HE HAD CARRIED MORE THAN 14" OF POWER, THEREFORE THE GEAR WARNING SYSTEM WOULD NOT WORK WHEN CARRYING THAT MUCH POWER. THE PILOT WAS VERY SURPRISED WHEN HE FOUND HE HAD LANDED WITH THE GEAR IN THE UP POSITION. THE AIRCRAFT WAS EXAMINED BY FAA AIRWORTHINESS INSPECTORS ON 01-03-2005. NO ABNORMALITIES OF THE GEAR SYSTEM WERE FOUND. PILOT WAS COUNSELED ON CHECKLIST USAGE AND PRELANDING CHECKS ON SHORT FINAL.

Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
