## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT PIC ^PRIVACY DA^, A/C - N17HF CONTACTED CGF TOWER FOR LANDING. N17HF WAS CLEARED TO LAND RWY 24, AFTER TOUCH DOWN A/C APPARENTLY VEERED OFF TO THE RIGHT OF CENTER LINE, RIGHT LANDING GEAR HIT THE GRASS FIRST THEN THE ENTIRE A/C DEPARTED THE RUNWAY. A/C CROSSED TAXIWAY B, IT HIT TWO TAXIWAY SIGNS AND ENDED UP TRAVELING SIDEWAYS AND PARALLEL TO RUNWAY 24. THE RIGHT LANDING GEAR WAS TORN FOR ITS UPPER MOUNTS AND COLLAPSED, CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT WING STRUCTURE. ALSO, AS A RESULT OF STRIKING TAXI SIGNS AND LIGHTS A NUMBER OF HOLE PENETRATED THE FUSELAGE SKIN WITH THE MOST SEVERE ON THE RIGHT SIDE BELLY RESULTING IN STRUCTURAL DAMAGE TO SOME STRINGERS AND FRAMES. NO ONE WAS INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC05LA044](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC05LA044), Jan 4, 2005: Aero Commander 690A (N17HF), Cleveland, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during landing, which resulted in an impact with a sign.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
