## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT DEPARTED P-19 AT APPROX 16:45 PM. ACCORDING TO WITNESS STATEMENTS THE AIRCRAFT WAS PERFORMING WING OVER MANEUVERS AND AT THE APEX OF THE MANEUVER THE PILOT LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT AND STARTED INTO A FLAT SPIN. THIS WAS VERIFIED BY WITNESS MARKS LEFT BY THE IMPACT OF THE AIRCRAFT AND ITS LACK OF FORWARD MOTION. THE TWO OCCUPANTS WERE FATALLY INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX05FA061](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX05FA061), Jan 6, 2005: Vail Lancair 235 (N64BV), Sacaton, AZ, destroyed, 2 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain an adequate airspeed while maneuvering, which resulted in a stall/spin.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
