## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT WAS ENGAGED IN GLIDER TOWING OPERATIONS. AFTER THE GLIDER RELEASED AT A SAFE ALTITUDE AS PLANNED, THE TOW PLANE BEGAN IT'S DESCENT AND APPROACH AS IT RETURNED TO THE IMMOKALEE, FL (IMM) AIRPORT. AS THE AIRCRAFT WAS ON FINAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 36 AT IMM, THE AIRCRAFT BECAME TOO LOW, AND THE 200 FOOT POLYESTER GLIDER TOW ROPE SNAGGED THE FOUR POWER LINES LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 1/2 MILE SHORT OF THE APPROACH END OF THE RUNWAY, AND BOUT 35 FEET AGL, SEVERING THEM. THE SEVERED LINES CREATED A LOCALIZED POWER OUTAGE AND GRASS FIRE OF BRIEF DURATION. THE TOWPLANE LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT, AND THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE AIRPLANE AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE INVESTIGATION REVEALED THERE WERE NO KNOWN WITNESSES, AND THE PILOT VEHEMENTLY DENIES THAT HE STRUCK THE POWER LINES, ALTHOUGH THE AIRCRAFT'S LANDING WAS CONCURRENT WITH THE WIRE SEVERANCE, AND THE CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE APPEARS COMPELLING. DUE TO LACK OF EVIDENCE AND WITNESSES, THIS FILE WAS CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
