## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE FOLLOWING NARRATIVE WAS STATED BY THE PILOT/OWNER ^PRIVACY DATA^: ON 02-10-05 AT 1515 MDT, N6816U, A MOONEY M20C, PILOTED BY OWNER ^PRIVACY DATA^ TOOK OFF FOR A LOCAL FLIGHT FROM THE VERNAL, UTAH AIRPORT (VEL). APPROXIMATELY 45 MINUTES LATER, THE PILOT ^PRIVACY ^ LANDED BACK AT THE VERNAL AIRPORT. DURING THE LANDING ROLLOUT THE PILOT ^PRIVACY ^ NOTICED THE LEFT WING WAS DIPPING. HE APPLIED LEFT AILERON AND RAISED THE WING. WITHIN 2 SECONDS THE LEFT WING DIPPED AGAIN, AND MORE AILERON WAS APPLIED. WITH THE DECREASED AIRSPEED, THE PILOT ^PRIVACY ^ COULD NOT MAINTAIN LIFT AND THE WING CONTACTED THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT SLOWLY VEERED LEFT AND SLID OFF THE RUNWAY CONTACTING A RUNWAY LIGHT ON THE LEFT WING. THE AIRCRAFT SLID OFF THE RUNWAY APPROXIMATELY 20 FEET INTO MUD. THE PILOT NOTED THE LANDING GEAR SELECTOR FELT SOMEWHAT STIFF WHEN HE PLACED IT IN THE DOWN POSITION. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AS A RESULT OF THIS INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
