## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT STATED THAT HE HAD COMPLETED THREE TAKEOFFS AND LANDINGS AT LINCOLN AIRPORT (LHM) JUST PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT. HE HAS APPROXIMATELY 700 HOURS OF TAILWHEEL EXPERIENCE IN HEAVIER TAILWHEEL AIRCRAFT BUT ONLY ABOUT AN HOUR IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL. HE STATED THAT THE APPROACH AND LANDING WERE NORMAL UP TO THE TIME THAT THE TAIL CAME UP OFF THE GROUND UNEXPECTEDLY AND HE STARTED TO SWERVE, DEPARTED THE RUNWAY AND STRUCK A TREE WITH A WING OF THE AIRCRAFT. HE STATED THAT THE AIRCRAFT WAS BEYOND ECONOMICAL REPAIR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX05CA096](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX05CA096), Feb 14, 2005: Aeronca 7EC (N4725E), Grass Valley, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to maintain directional control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
