## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT IN COMMAND LANDED THE AIRCRAFT JUST PAST THE MIDWAY POINT OF THE RUNWAY AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS TRAVELING FASTER THAN NORMAL. AS THE AIRCRAFT APPROACHED THE END OF THE RUNWAY, THE PILOT REALIZING HE WAS NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO STOP BEFORE THE END OF THE RUNWAY, PULLED THE MIXTURE CABLE OUT, SHUTTING DOWN THE ENGINE. AS THE AIRCRAFT PASSED THE RUNWAY END MARKERS (WOOD STAKES PAINTED WHIT ON EACH SIDE OF THE RUNWAY) THE AIRCRAFT MOVED TO THE LEFT. THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED, THE RIGHT WINGTIP IMPACTED THE GROUND, AND THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A STOP. BOTH THE PILOT AND ^PRIVACY DATA ^ (PASSENGER) SAFELY EGRESSED THE AIRCRAFT WITH NO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL05CA054](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL05CA054), Feb 18, 2005: Piper PA-22 (N1476A), Holly Ridge, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The CFI's improper use of the rudder control and normal braking during the landing roll that resulted in the collapse of the nose gear assembly.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
