## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) A "WHEELS" LANDING WAS MADE DOWNWIND ON A GRASS STRIP WITH A LEFT QUARTERING WIND ESTIMATED TO BE 8-10 KTS. WHILE THE TAIL WAS UP DURING THE ROLL OUT UNINTENTIONAL APPLICATION OF BRAKES WAS MADE CAUSING THE NOSE TO GO FORWARD. THE PROP CONTACTED THE GROUND CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP OVER. THE PILOT EVACUATED THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT ANY INJURIES AFTER SECURING ALL ELECTRICAL POWER. THE PILOT, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED USAF, IS ASSIGNED TO THE 4TH OPERATIONAL SUPPORT SQUADRON AT SEYMOUR-JOHNSON AFB AS A F-15E WEAPONS SYSTEM OFFICER AND IS DEPLOYING 3-25-05 FOR A MINIMUM OF ONE YEAR TO THE MIDDLE EAST. HE WILL NOT BE FLYING ANY LIGHT AIRCRAFT DURING THIS PERIOD. UPON RETURN TO THE USA, HIS HOME-BUILT AIRCRAFT WILL BE REBUILT. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL05CA060](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL05CA060), Mar 9, 2005: Savage RV-8 (N187WS), Goldsboro, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's excessive braking during landing roll, which resulted in a nose-over. A factor was the tailwind.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
