## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LAND AT SEMINOLE LAKE GLIDER PORT, CLERMONT, FLORIDA, ^PRIVACY DATA OM^ THE PILOT OF ASW-27, N661T, STATED THAT HE OBSERVED A MOTOR GLIDER ON THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DAT^ CONTINUED TO DESCEND WHILE KEEPING THE MOTOR GLIDER IN SIGHT. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DAT^ STATED THAT HE ALLOWED HIS GLIDER TO GET TOO LOW AND ATTEMPTED TO APPLY FULL FLAPS TO CLEAR TREES AT THE APPROACH END OF THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DAT^ FURTHER STATED THAT HE MISTAKENLY PULLED THE SPOILER HANDLE INSTEAD OF THE FLAP HANDLE, CAUSING THE GLIDER TO DESCEND INTO THE TREES AT THE APPROACH END OF THE RUNWAY. N661T WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED, AND THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DAT^ THE SOLE OCCUPANT OF THE GLIDER, WAS NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA05CA075](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA05CA075), Mar 10, 2005: Schleicher ASW 27 (N661T), Clermont, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadvertent deploying of the spoilers, while on final approach, resulting in the glider descending and impacting trees.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
