## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON MARCH 18, 2005, AIRCRAFT N6372D, A CESSNA 172, WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT APPROXIMATELY 14 TO 15 MILES NORTH OF RIO GRANDE CITY. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE WHEN IT IMPACTED THE GROUND ON LANDING. THE PILOT LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT DURING LANDING DUE TO WIND GUSTS. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT OR PASSENGER AND NO POST ACCIDENT FIRE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DFW05CA091](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DFW05CA091), Mar 18, 2005: Cessna 172N (N6372D), Rio Grande City, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance from objects, and his improper compensation for wind conditions while landing. A contributing factor was the gusty wind condition.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
