## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT STATED THAT EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL FOR LANDING, JUST WHEN HE TOUCHED DOWN A GUST OF CROSSWIND CAUGHT THE AIRPLANE CAUSING A SIDE LOAD ON THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR COLLAPSED CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO GO OFF THE RUNWAY AND FLIP OVER ON ITS TOP. THERE WAS MINOR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT, BUT THE RUDDER WAS BENT WHEN THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER. THE AIRCRAFT IS EXPERIMENTAL AMATEUR BUILT REPLICA OF WORLD WAR I GEISER NIEUPORT MODEL 17.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX05CA123](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX05CA123), Mar 26, 2005: Peter A. Geiser Lee/Geiser Nieuprt17 (N124FG), Chandler, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate compensation for the gusting crosswind condition and failure to maintain directional control during landing rollout.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
