## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING THE LANDING ROLLOUT ON RUNWAY 30 AT KLGB, THE AIRCRAFT VEERED OFF THE RUNWAY AND STRUCK THREE AIRPORT SIGNS, CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF MECHANICAL MALFUNCTION DURING HIS TAKEOFF FROM KSBA OR DURING ENROUTE TO KLGB. HE FURTHER REPORTED THAT WITHING SECONDS AFTER LANDING, THE AIRPLANE BEGAN TO TURN LEFT. HE ATTEMPTED TO STRAIGHTEN OUT THE AIRPLANE'S COURSE, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY AND CAME TO A STOP ON A TAXIWAY ADJACENT TO THE RUNWAY. THE LEFT WING SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE FROM THE LEADING EDGE TO THE TRAILING EDGE, INCLUDING A PUNCTURE OF THE LEFT FUEL TANK. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX05LA126](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX05LA126), Mar 27, 2005: Piper PA-32-301T (N8243L), Long Beach, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the landing rollout.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
