## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AT GRIFFIN-SPALDING COUNTY (6A2) AIRPORT, THE STUDENT PILOT WAS INTENDING TO CONDUCT TOUCH AND GO PATTERN WORK ON RUNWAY 32. DURING THE FIRST LANDING ATTEMPT, THE PILOT LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT IMMEDIATELY AFTER TOUCHDOWN AND VEERED LEFT INTO A GRASSY AREA. THE NOSE WHEEL THEN STRUCK A RUNWAY LIGHT. THE COLLISION WITH THE LIGHT IS SUSPECTED AS CAUSING THE DAMAGE TO THE GEAR AND FURTHER LOSS OF CONTROL RESULTING IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO BOTH WINGS AND PROPELLER. THE PILOT SUSTAINED A MINOR INJURY TO HIS RIGHT ELBOW AND DID NOT SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL05CA069](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL05CA069), Apr 4, 2005: Piper PA-28-140 (N6651W), Griffin, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll, which resulted in an on-ground collision with a ditch.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
