## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) FLIGHT TOOK OFF FROM KANSAS CITY MID CONTINENT AIRPORT (KMCI) ENROUTE TO SHELBYVILLE, TN. AS AIRCRAFT LEVELED OFF AT 3500' MSL THE POWER WAS PULLED BACK AND THE LEFT ENGINE FAILED. THE FLIGHT CREW RECEIVED CLEARANCE TO LAND AT KANSAS CITY DOWNTOWN AIRPORT (KMKC) AND STARTED THE ENGINE FAILURE CHECK LIST AS THEY PROCEEDED TO MKC. SINCE THE AIRCRAFT WAS IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE LANDING AIRPORT THE ENGINE FAILURE CHECK LIST WAS NOT COMPLETED. THE AIRCRAFT MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING WITHOUT INCIDENT. INCIDENT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED IS CONSIDERED CLOSED WITH THE FILING OF THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
