## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT ABORTED TAKEOFF AND CRASHED AT END OF DEPARTURE RUNWAY, BECAUSE THE PILOT STATED THAT HE HAD A REAR ENGINE FAILURE. THERE WAS SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND NO INJURIES TO THE SINGLE OCCUPANT THE PIC. TWO WITNESSES STATED THAT THE REAR ENGINE WAS NOT RUNNING DURING TAXI BEFORE TAKEOFF. ONE WITNESS ON THE RECOVERY CREW STATED THAT THE REAR ENGINE WAS NOT WARM TO THE TOUCH DIRECTLY AFTER THE ACCIDENT. FAA PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE REAR ENGINE OPERATED NORMALLY FIVE MINUTES IAW THE AIRCRAFT FLIGHT MANUAL. THE REAR ENGINE TACHOMETER WAS NOT FUNCTIONING DURING THE ENGINE RUN, WITNESSED BY THE FAA.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA05CA092](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA05CA092), Apr 13, 2005: Cessna 337 B (N463DA), Ocala, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper landing flare during an aborted takeoff, which resulted in a hard landing and damage to the airplane.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
