## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT LANDED AIRCRAFT AT APPROXIMATELY 90 KNOTS WITH LANDING GEAR DOWN AND FULL FLAPS. TOWER REQUESTED THAT HE TAKE THE FIRST TURNOFF ONTO RUNWAY 5/23 DUE TO ANOTHER AIRCRAFT (AT-6) LANDING BEHIND HIM. PILOT STATED THAT HE ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE TAIL OF THE AIRCRAFT DOWN WHEN THE AIRCRAFT WAS GOING TOO FAST. THIS CAUSED THE RIGHT WING TO LIFT, THEN THE AIRCRAFT VEERED TO THE RIGHT. THE LEFT LANDING GEAR STRUT BROKE AND THE PROPELLER CONTACTED THE GROUND WHICH CURLED BOTH BLADES. SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE LEFT WING. PILOT STATED THAT HE SHOULD HAVE GONE PAST THE FIRST TURNOFF DUE TO THE SPEED OF THE AIRCRAFT. HE ALSO STATED THAT THE SUN WAS IN HIS EYES WHEN LANDING THE AIRCRAFT MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE THE AIRSPEED INDICATOR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA05CA090](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA05CA090), Apr 14, 2005: North American AT-6C (N7690U), Lakeland, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's attempted turn off the runway at excessive speed, resulting in the right wing raising, the left wing touching the runway, and the left landing gear collapsing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
