## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ PILOT WAS RETURNING TO FRASCA FIELD (C16) AFTER DEPARTING GALESBURG, IL (GBG). THE PILOT WAS THE ONLY PERSON ON BOARD. DURING APPROACH AT DUSK TO RUNWAY 9, PILOT BECAME DISTRACTED AND FAILED TO PUT THE LANDING GEAR DOWN WHICH RESULTED IN A GEAR UP LANDING. THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS JACKED UP AND THE GEAR IMMEDIATELY LOCKED IN THE DOWN POSITION AND WAS TOWED FROM THE RUNWAY TO THE PILOTS HANGAR. INSPECTION OF PICTURES TAKEN AFTER THE INCIDENT SUGGESTS THE PILOT PLACED THE GEAR HANDLE IN THE DOWN POSITION AFTER THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST. ANOTHER PHOTOGRAPH SHOWS THE AIRCRAFT ON SHORT FINAL WITH THE GEAR RETRACTED WHILE YET ANOTHER SHOWS THE AIRCRAFT SLIDING DOWN THE RUNWAY WITH THE GEAR RETRACTED. THIS INCIDENT IS CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
