## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) OWNER/PILOT HAD HIS AIRCRAFT SECURED WITH ONE TIE DOWN. THE TIE DOWN WAS A SMALL CHAIN WHICH WAS ATTACHED TO THE TAIL TIE RING. THE PILOT STARTED THE AIRCRAFT AND LEFT THE ENGINE AT IDLE SPEED. HE EXITED THE AIRCRAFT TO SHUT HIS HANGAR DOOR. HE NOTICED THE AIRCRAFT BREAKING FREE AND TRIED TO JUMP IN. HIS ATTEMPT FAILED AND THE AIRCRAFT CAME IN CONTACT WITH HIS HANGAR. THE DAMAGE CONSISTED OF A PROPELLER STRIKE AT THE CORNER OF THE HANGAR ALONG WITH MINOR DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT WING TIP. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED ON A PRIVATE GRASS STRIP WITH ONE HANGAR (HIS) AND NO OTHER AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT WAS UNINJURED IN HIS ATTEMPT TO GET IN THE AIRCRAFT BEFORE STRIKING THE HANGAR.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
