## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON RETURN FLIGHT FROM KFWA TO KJAN: DURING APPROACH TO TUPELO THE ENGINE STOPPED. AIRCRAFT LANDED IN FIELD 1/2 MILE SHORT OF RUNWAY OFF FIELD. ON SCENE INVESTIGATION REVEALED NO USABLE FUEL REMAINED ON AIRCRAFT. PILOT STATED THERE WAS A MISUNDERSTANDING WHEN FUEL WAS REQUESTED AT KFWA. ONLY 15 GALLONS RECEIVED AT KFWA. PILOT THOUGHT HE HAD REQUESTED 30 GALS (15 GALS FOR EACH WING). PILOT DISCOVERED THE FUEL SITUATION ENROUTE TO KTUP. HE STILL THOUGHT HE HAD ENOUGH FUEL TO MAKE TUPELO. AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED AND PILOT RECEIVED SERIOUS INJURY TO HIS BACK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA05LA077](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA05LA077), Apr 18, 2005: Beech V35B (N6645G), Tupelo, MS, substantial damage. Probable cause: A loss of engine power due to the inadequate in-flight planning and the pilot's failure to refuel the airplane resulting in fuel exhaustion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
