## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) STUDENT PILOT FLYING SOLO IN THE PATTERN AT CNO WAS ATTEMPTING LANDING IN THE GRASS NORTH OF ACTIVE. UPON FLARING PRIOR TO TOUCHDOWN SHE EXPERIENCED THE HELICOPTER SHUDDERING AS A RESULT OF TRANSVERSE FLOW EFFECT AND INAPPROPRIATELY IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AS A SETTLING WITH POWER ISSUE. THE STUDENT REACTED BY DROPPING THE COLLECTIVE AND LOWERING THE NOSE WITHIN TEN FEET OF THE GROUND. THE HELICOPTER SUFFERED A HARD LANDING THAT DISTORTED THE REAR CROSSTUBE. THE STUDENT WAS UNINJURED. THE INSTRUCTOR STATED THE STUDENT WAS SCHEDULED FOR AN ADDITIONAL FIVE HOURS DUAL INSTRUCTION.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
