## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ^PRIVACY DAT^ A PILOT FOR AIR LOGISTICS WAS ON WC-426, ATTEMPTING TO DEPART THE OIL STRUCTURE WITH TWO PASSENGERS ON BOARD TAKING OFF INTO THE WIND, APPROXIMATELY 10 FEET FROM THE PLATFORM WHEN THE ENGINE BEGAN TO BLEED OFF AND LOSE RPM'S. THE PILOT INFLATED THE FLOATS AND AUTOROTATED TO THE WATER. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING UPON LANDING, THE PILOT PERFORMED AN EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN OF THE ENGINE, TURNING OFF ALL RADIOS AND LIGHTS. THE PILOT TRANSMITTED A MAYDAY CALL WITH A POSITION REPORT. THE PILOT AND PASSENGERS WERE IN THE AIRCRAFT FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES BEFORE A RESPONSE WAS RECEIVED FROM ANOTHER AIRCRAFT. THE PEOPLE WERE EVACUATED BY A BOAT THAT ARRIVED ON THE SCENE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
