## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) A SWEARINGEN AS-26AT CRASHED AND BURNED ON LANDING. THE PILOT STATED THAT JUST BEFORE THE AIRPLANE TOUCHED DOWN IT TURNED RIGHT AND THE LEFT WING LIFTED AND THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR HIT THE GROUND. THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR COLLAPSED AND THE AIRPLANE BOUNCED BACK INTO THE AIR. THE AIRPLANE THEN HIT THE GROUND AGAIN AT A RIGHT ANGLE TO THE RUNWAY'S CENTERLINE AND THE LEFT MAIN AND NOSE GEAR BROKE OFF AND THE AIRPLANE CAME TO A STOP ON THE TAXIWAY. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER EXITED THE AIRPLANE THROUGH THE EXIT WINDOW ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE AIRPLANE. AFTER EXITING THE AIRCRAFT AND MOVING ABOUT 300 FEET FROM THE AIRPLANE IT CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNED. WITNESSES SAID THAT THE AIRPLANE WAS COMING IN FAST AND AT A STEEP ANGLE. PROPELLER STRIKES WERE FOUND ON THE RUNWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL05LA075](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL05LA075), Apr 26, 2005: Swearingen SA-26AT (N50KV), Lawrenceville, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper landing flare that resulted in a hard landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
