## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA^ ACTING AS FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR, DEPARTED WITH A STUDENT FROM WHEELING, ILLINOIS ENROUTE TO BARABOO, WISCONSIN, ON MAY 7, 2005 IN CESSNA 150, N11239. THE RETURN TO WHEELING, ILLINOIS WAS CONDUCTED AT NIGHT, AND THE AIRPLANE WAS NOT REFULED AT BARABOO. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT THE ENGINE QUIT 3.2 HOURS AFTER THE INITIAL DEPARTURE FROM WHEELING. THE PILOT FURTHER REPORTED THAT HE DID NOT LEAN THE MIXTURE DURING CRUISE FLIGHT AT ABOUT 3500 FEET MSL. SUBSEQUENT INSPECTION OF THE AIRPLANE DISCLOSED THAT THERE WAS NO FUEL IN THE TANKS AND GASCOLATOR, AND VERY LITTLE FUEL IN THE CARBURETOR. IMPACT DAMAGE PRECLUDED FULL ENGINE ROTATION.
