## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 05-09-2005, WHILE ON AN IFR FLIGHT IN IMC FROM JACKSON HOLE WY TO PASCO, WA, AT APPROXIMATELY 1640 HOURS LOCAL TIME, N8805W A PA 28-235 CRASHED INTO MOUNTAINOUS TREE COVERED TERRAIN APPROXIMATELY 8 MILES SOUTH OF LOWELL, ID. THE PILOT AND SOLE OCCUPANT INCURRED SERIOUS INJURIES, BUT SURVIVED THE CRASH AND SPENT TWO NIGHTS AT THE CRASH SITE PRIOR TO BEING RESCUED MID-DAY 05-11-2005. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED IN THIS CRASH LANDING. THE PILOT REPORTED TO ATC (SEATTLE CENTER), WHILE IN CRUISE FLIGHT, THAT HE COULD NOT LONGER REMAIN AT HIS ASSIGNED ALTITUDE DUE TO THE ENGINE NOT PRODUCING ADEQUATE POWER. HE WAS GIVEN A LOWER ALTITUDE BUT WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN THE ASSIGNED LOWER ALTITUDE. THE PILOT EVENTUALLY REPORTED THAT THE ENGINE HAD QUIT. HE LATER REPORTED THAT HE HAD RESTARTED THE ENGINE BUT SOON STATED THAT THE ENGINE HAD QUIT AGAIN. RADAR CONTACT WAS SOON LOST AND THE PILOT DESCENDED INTO MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN WHERE THE CRASH OCCURRED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
